We had exhibited at the Singapore Jewellery & Gem Fair 2016, held at the Marina Bay Sands Convention & exhibition Centre from 04/11/2016 to 07/11/2016, for 4 days.

The establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) as a background, Singapore is increasing its presence as a financial and logistical hub in Southeast Asia.Following the 50th anniversary of Singaporean independence in 2015, this year has become a memorial year of 50th years since diplomatic relations with Japan began. And to commemorate this, various memorial projects and benefits has been deployed in both countries.

SJ50 MATSURI was held in Singapore, on the slogan called Come Celebrate 50 Years of Singapore-JapanFriendship, from October 29th to 30th.Awa Odori dancers were invited from Fukushima and Tokyo for the SJ Friendship Parade which was held on 29th, at the Orchard Road, in the center of Singapore.Together with the people of Singapore in kimono,2000 people from both countries had enjoyed Awa Odori dancing and celebrated the milestone year. The cultural exchange between the two countries is very active, Singaporean visited Japan. In fact, one in ten people of Singaporeans is supposed to have visited Japan.

In addition,Japanese culture has been widely understood and accepted, and now there are more than 1000 Japanese restaurant in Singapore.Besides, the popularity of pop culture such as Japanese cartoon and animation is very high, especially for young people.Starting overseas operations by Japanese companies is increasing year by year in a wide range of fields such as service industry and it is believed that it will increase in future triggered by the establishment of TPP.At this moment, the cultural exchange between two countries is very active, and we have mutual friendship and good relationship between the two countries.I felt everyone was friendly and kind during this trip.

Speaking of this jewelry show which was supported with the pro-Japanese feelings, the number of exhibitors was smaller than the previous year and the venue was a slightly reduced scale. We thought to have slow start like previous year but the venue was crowded on the first day with many buyers especially from China; the organizer seemed putting effort into attracting customers. Because venue became smaller, visitors could go around the whole venue and scrutinized goods. This allowed the consumers to come several days and made the whole place look crowded.

Singaporean tends to buy things if they like them regardless of the price. And it made me feel the atmosphere different from the other shows In addition, it seemed that Singaporean tend to select better quality than other countries’ consumers. At the next exhibition in Singapore, we plan to bring more items that Singaporean people will love and see.
Finally, we would like to give our sincere gratitude to all of you who visited our booth at this fair.
