Recently in Japan, weak yen high stock prices advanced remarkably. Then, it fell in an exchange rate of 102 yen against a dollar level for the first time in 4 years and 7 months on 13th. Furthermore, from expectations for expansion of the performance of Japanese companies by the depreciation of the yen, Nikkei Stock Average price has recovered to 15,000 levels for the first time in 5 years and 4 months on 15th. It practically shows the rise of Nikkei Index by 45% from the beginning of this year. Also, it seems the expectations of the recovery of Japanese economy are quite big by the economic and fiscal policy of Shinzo Abe and monetary easing policy by the Bank of Japan.

However, the rise in long-term interest rates is progressing and funds seem like flowing in assets such as shares from bonds. Also, it seems that domestic banks are selling government bonds, mainly 5-year bonds. Because the rapid raise of interest rate causes the deterioration of the economic growth, should be aware of the trend of interest rates in the future. By the rapid depreciation of the yen, strong performance of export-related companies is noticeable in our industry. They seemed to be able to sell at the higher price in foreign countries than in the domestic market. Especially diamonds seems to disappear considerably from the domestic market. If the depreciation of the yen progress further the possibility to shift to the overseas market would become higher. Then the flow of the entire industry might change greatly.

This jewelry show started in such a recent state. On the first day of the exhibition, every booth seemed to be quite crowded than the previous year. The purchasing will of the overseas buyer seemed to have increased by the weak yen. And the goods which did not sell at the January IJT show were sold at this fair, because it became more than 20% cheaper by the weak yen. Because there were many voices from our regular customers that they would like to see our product thoroughly and slowly, we made our booth different than usual to challenge as this was the smallest show.

With half of the booth closed, there was a space that the customers could choose slowly. The response from our customers was good and the purchase amount became more than usual. It was a jewelry show with full of gratitude for guests who always give us royal support. We will continue to strive further more and more to meet our customer’s demand, and hope to see you at the next jewelry show. We would like to express our gratitude to everyone who visited us at this fair from deep inside of our heart.
